Neighbor Care Packages Cohort Project

Six high school students were selected from a pool of nine applicants to participate in our inaugural program focused on restorative justice, social justice, and activism; the cohort met twice a week for two hours each session. Six guest speakers engaged our students on topics of locational racism, individual and collective trauma, and collective identity to name a few. In response to this content, students developed a community impact project, with the support from the Chicago Bulls who provided workshops on ideation, budgeting, pitching. From this collaboration, students pitched their project and received funding to implement their project which provided care packages for 40 neighbors at Matthew House.
